We’re excited to share that applications are now open for the third edition of the Foundations of Quantum Computing (FQC2025) workshop, organised by the Quantum Software Lab and Royal Holloway, University of London, happening at the University of Edinburgh from 16–18 June 2025.
Our goal is to exchange ideas, share insights, and foster collaborations on the fundamental aspects of quantum computing by bringing together researchers who may not otherwise come together in a small conference. The workshop is discussion-oriented, with invited long talks from leading experts in quantum foundations and quantum computing. This year’s themes are: “Models of quantum computing and resources” and “Foundations of quantum tomography.”
Here’s our amazing speaker lineup, with more to be announced:
Hans Briegel, University of Innsbruck
Sitan Chen, Harvard University
Richard Josza, University of Cambridge
Elham Kashefi, The University of Edinburgh, and Sorbonne Université
Viv Kendon, University of Strathclyde
Paolo Perinotti, Università di Pavia
Matthew Pusey, University of York
Hjalmar Rall, Technical University of Munich
Rüdiger Schack, Royal Holloway, University of London
Information about previous editions can be found at: FQC24 https://www.eventcreate.com/e/fqc2024 and FQC23 https://www.eventcreate.com/e/fqc2023
To promote discussions, similar to last year, we will also have Lightning Talks! These are short talks of 5 to 10 minutes delivered by attendees to promote their research and ideas. You can express your interest in giving a lightening talk in the application form.
The attendance will be by invitation only. So, please express your interest by April 30, through the short application form on the event’s website: https://www.eventcreate.com/e/fqc2025
Please note that accepted participants will be asked to pay a small registration fee.
