Postdoctoral position in Quantum Random Walks. Apply through the IRCSET scheme [Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology] Position is for 2 years, with salary of about 31,000 euro. Please contact me at michael.mcgettrick@nuigalway.ie in advance of applying.

DESCRIPTION: Post-doctoral position at the Quantum Information Group of the University of Barcelona (Spain).

FIELD: The successful candidate is expected to have obtained a Ph.D. in Quantum Computation, quantum many-body physics or in the study of cold atomic systems. On top of this basic requirement, programming skills, deep knowledge of quantum field theory or a strong background in mathematics is certainly a plus.

ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences, a centre based in Castelldefels (Barcelona, Spain), devoted to research and education of the optical and photonic sciences at the highest international level, is offering a postdoctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment. The successful candidate will be part of an emerging project carried out by Prof Hugues de Riedmatten's newly established Quantum Photonics with Solids and Atoms group.

A 2-year postdoctoral position in Quantum Information Science is opening in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of British Columbia in Spring 2011, in the group of Dr. Robert Raussendorf. Possible areas of research include - but are not restricted to - models of quantum computation, quantum error-correction and quantum algorithms.

We anticipate having an opening for a postdoctoral position in the research group of Prof. Mark Byrd within the next two or three months. Applications will be reviewed beginning December 1, 2010 and will continue until the position is filled. The position is for research in quantum error prevention methods. The applicant should have some knowledge of quantum error correcting codes and fault-tolerant quantum computing. Knowledge of other error prevention methods, such as dynamical decoupling controls and decoherence-free subspaces would be beneficial. Applications should be sent to:
