European Physical Journal D, will publish a topical issue on Quantum Correlation. Deadline for submission is July 31 2018.

The purpose of this topical issue is to present both theoretical and experimental works addressed to investigate these concepts and their role in various areas of quantum science and quantum technologies. This issue is prepared in response to the challenges and visions outlined in the European Commission Quantum Technologies Flagship strategic document, and the commitment of the EC to support research in quantum technologies.

The launch of the projects funded within the QuantERA Call 2017 will be officially celebrated at the Projects’ Launch Event in Bucharest, Romania.

The event will take place on:

April, 24th – OPEN DAY (registration required)
April, 25th - Parties involved in the QuantERA Programme only

On 15th November 2017, during the ESA 2nd Workshop on Quantum Technology, a strategic report on “Quantum Technologies in Space” was handed over to ESA, represented by Franco Ongaro (Director of Technology, Engineering and Quality and Head of ESTEC) and the European Commission, represented by Jean-François Buggenhout (Deputy Head of Unit, DG CONNECT, European Commission).

Quantum software is recognized as one of the major enabling topics in the Strategic Research Agenda of the Flagship Initiative on Quantum Technologies. However, the writers and endorsers of this Manifesto feel that it is necessary to step up the efforts to optimally represent quantum software in the Flagship Initiative.

Do you feel that there are fundamental questions in quantum information theory which are not receiving enough attention? Is there a technical difficulty that you encounter over and over in the course of your research?
Those are not your problems only: they are our problems, too. Share them with the community and help quantum information science grow!

The Paul Ehrenfest Best Paper Award for Quantum Foundations recognizes outstanding and influential research contributions to the foundations of quantum physics. The aim of the award is to raise awareness for the field of quantum foundations, and to draw attention to new and interesting achievements in this area without delay. It is awarded for the most significant publication in the foundations of quantum physics, theoretical or experimental, during one calendar year. Candidate publications must be published in a peer-reviewed journal.

QuantERA, a new European Research Area Network (ERA-NET) Cofund initiative launched its first joint transnational call (Call 2017) for proposals worth € 34 M in support of transnational research in the field of Quantum Information and Communication Sciences and Technologies (Q-ICST) on January 13th, 2017. Thirty research funding organisations from 26 countries throughout take part in the Call that has a deadline for pre-proposals on the 15th of March 2015.

The world economy is being driven by emergent global trends in communication, security, sensing, and computing. As performance limits are reached in existing technologies, quantum enhanced technologies will increasingly disrupt and replace current approaches.

Together with its partners from academia and industry, the Government of Canada is facilitating the Quantum Canada initiative. The first step is a consultative survey to identify the gaps, opportunities, and challenges for quantum R&D and the commercialization of quantum technologies in Canada.
