Today the Quantiki team (from left to right: Jarek Miszczak, Daniel Burgarth, Piotr Gawron) celebrates the 10th birthday of the site. Meeting at Institute of Theoretical and Applied Informatics, Polish Academy of Sciences, we discussed our achievements and exciting upcoming new features. We also ate an immense amount of tasty strawberries.

Past week on March 27, Russian Federation has announced the world's one of the most tested theory false and consequently, made any types of violation of Bell's Inequalities illegal.

Officials state that "quantumness" is a made up theory of our nature and it originates from the West. "We will not let such speculators drive National Russian Research funds towards wrong direction" - said Dmitry Livanov, current minister of education of Russian Federation.

Dear colleagues and friends,

two weeks ago many of you received the message below about the Quantum Manifesto. Up to now, 900 people endorsed it, but we would like to reach a few thousands endorsements.

I understand that not everybody is aware that endorsements are open to everyone who is working in our field in Europe, including each student of each group.

This is extremely important to show to European decision makers how strong the support from the scientific community is.

Prof. Alexandr S. Holevo has been awarded by IEEE Information Theory Society with the Claude E. Shannon Award for year 2016. Prof. Holevo works at the Stekhlov Mathematical Institute in Moscow (Russia). He is one of pioneers of quantum information theory and has made substantial contribution in the areas of mathematical foundations of quantum theory, quantum statistics and quantum information theory.

The quantum control group at Aberystwyth University have developed a Python module for quantum optimal control. The module has been incorporated into QuTiP (Quantum Toolbox in Python) and is now part of the official release 3.1.0, which was announced on 1 Jan 2015. The module provides a method for determining control pulses for quantum systems via GRAPE, that is easy to configure, and runs on a free-to-use, open, and scalable platform.

The use of entropy in quantum physics has guided remarkable advances in the understanding of entanglement and general forms of quantum correlations in composite quantum systems, and has enabled the quantification of quantum advantages in information and communication technologies. Entropic measures are at the core of quantum information theory, and recent cross-fertilizations with other fields (such as condensed matter and thermodynamics) are further promoting the interpretation and application of entropy in the quantum domain.

Prof. Marek Żukowski from the University of Gdańsk and Prof. Harald Weinfurter from the University of Munich have been named as the recipients of the fifth edition of the COPERNICUS Polish-German Scientific Award, presented by the Foundation for Polish Science and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). The recipients were awarded the distinction for the research they have conducted jointly in quantum physics.

We are happy to announce the opening of the call for applications for the 2014/15 edition of the Doctoral Programme in the Physics and Mathematics of Information: Foundations of Future Information Technologies (DP-PMI).

We are happy to announce the launching of the Doctoral Programme in the Physics and Mathematics of Information: Foundations of Future Information Technologies (DP-PMI).

The DP-PMI aims at providing advanced curricular and research training in the recent developments and fundamental challenges in information sciences and technologies.

The DP-PMI is hosted by Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), the School of Science and Engineering of the University of Lisbon, in Portugal, and eight associated research centres.
