Sydney Quantum Academy (SQA) is a unique partnership between four world-leading universities – Macquarie University, UNSW Sydney, the University of Sydney, and the University of Technology Sydney – generously supported by the NSW Government. Our vision is a quantum-ready Australia. We are building a diverse workforce, fostering cross-sector collaboration, and developing the next generation of specialists, entrepreneurs, and leaders in quantum technologies.
We offer scholarships and training opportunities for PhD, Honours, Masters, undergraduate, and high school students. SQA brings together over 100 experts across its partner universities, giving students access to cross-institutional coursework, training, and networking opportunities. Many PhD scholarships include industry placements of up to 12 months, providing hands-on experience with real-world projects and building career-ready skills.
Sydney’s quantum ecosystem is globally recognised for innovation and entrepreneurship, with over 20 research teams exploring a wide range of quantum specialisations. Anchored by top-ranked universities, groundbreaking research, and strong government and industry support, the city also hosts leading quantum startups—including Silicon Quantum Computing, Quantum Brilliance, Diraq, and Q-CTRL.
