Welcome to Quantiki

Welcome to Quantiki, the world's leading portal for everyone involved in quantum information science. No matter if you are a researcher, a student or an enthusiast of quantum theory, this is the place you are going to find useful and enjoyable! While here on Quantiki you can: browse our content, including fascinating and educative articles, then create your own account and log in to gain more editorial possibilities.

Add new content, such as information about upcoming quantum events, open positions for quantum scientists and existing quantum research groups. We also encourage to follow us using social media sites.

The Institute for Quantum Computing is inviting applications for postdoctoral positions in all aspects of quantum information processing, bridging areas from fundamental theory to physical implementations.

We are very sad to inform the quantum community that professor Roman Stanisław Ingarden, famous Polish physicist, passed away on the 12th of July 2011. Before his death he worked as professor emeritus at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. His scientific achievements have been recognised worldwide. In 1976 he published the paper 'Quantum Information Theory' which is, most probably, the first documented case of using the term 'quantum information theory'.

INTRODUCTION

This taught MSc course offers a comprehensive overview of the emerging applications of quantum physics to information processing and quantum coherent devices. The course syllabus includes important topics such as:

- Quantum Information Science. This teaches how quantum phenomena may be used to process information in novel ways that outperform existing information processing technologies.

- Experimental Quantum and Atom Optics. This topic covers the key techniques used to generate and manipulate quantum coherence in real experimental systems.

The Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) of Pisa is accepting applications for 27 PhD positions in the Faculty of Sciences for the 2011/2012 academic year.
<!--break-->
The positions are articulated as follows

* 6 positions in Physics
* 4 positions in Condensed Matter Physics
* 5 positions in Mathematics
* 3 positions in Mathematics for Industrial Technologies or for Finance
* 4 positions in Molecular Biophysics
* 4 positions in Chemistry
* 1 position in Neurobiology
