The University of Tsukuba will conduct a university-wide open recruitment limited to female researchers, following the initiative implemented in the previous academic year.
In last year’s recruitment, the University received a large number of applications from outstanding researchers whose work was expected to contribute significantly to the enhancement of the University’s research capacity. As a result, the University was able to appoint 14 researchers.
For the current academic year, the University has established 19 positions exclusively for female researchers as part of a university-wide effort to further strengthen its research capabilities.
This recruitment concerns 16 positions intended for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Assistant Professor, and is open to applicants from all research fields, without restriction by discipline, through a single, centralized call.
This initiative constitutes a positive action measure under Article 8 of the Act on Securing, Etc. of Equal Opportunity and Treatment between Men and Women in Employment. It aims to address the continuing underrepresentation of female faculty members and to promote more innovative research and education through the incorporation of diverse perspectives.
The candidate will belong to one of the organizations within the University of Tsukuba and engage in education and research as an Associate Professor or Assistant Professor.
Basically, you will be engaged in research as a PI, but if you are hired as an assistant professor in some organizations (Institute of Pure and Applied Sciences, Center for Computational Sciences, Life Science Center for Survival Dynamics, Tsukuba Advanced Research Alliance (TARA)), you will be engaged in research under a mentor.
Please note that, for the Institute of Library, Information and Media Science, recruitment will be limited to the Assistant Professor level, and there will be no hiring at the Associate Professor level.
