Description:
The candidate will carry an experimental investigation on a DARPA-funded project exploring the similarity between the decoherence of a quantum system and the incoherence of classical optical radiation. The aim is to employ this similarity to develop a new optical detection paradigm. The candidate should have strong experimental skills in IR/vis optics. An ability to perform modeling is a plus. This is a full time one-year position with possible renewals for the second and third year. The renewal is contingent upon funds and performance. Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Ph.D. in Physics and related fields.
Three years of experience in optics
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
Experience with theoretical and experimental quantum optics
Design and construction of optical systems
Strong oral and written presentation skills
REQUIRED BACKGROUND CHECK, PHYSICAL, AND DRUG SCREENING FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:
Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required. The background investigation, required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended.
