The University of Paderborn is a high-performance and internationally oriented university with approximately 20,000 students. Within inter- disciplinary teams, we design forward-looking research, innovative teaching and the active transfer of knowledge into society. As an im- portant research and cooperation partner, the university also shapes regional development strategies. We offer our more than 2,300 em- ployees in research, teaching, technology and administration a lively, family-friendly, equal opportunity environment, a lean management structure and diverse opportunities.

The Faculty of Science, Department of Physics, Theoretical Quantum Optics Group, offers the position of a
PhD student (f/m/d)
(pay scale 13 TV-L)
starting at the earliest opportunity. The position (75% of regular working time) entais a fixed term contract for the duration of the PhD project in the field of theoretical quantum optics, specifically, high-order orbital angular momentum (OAM) in bright squeezed vacuum states (BSV) of light and is initially limited to 3 years (according to the German law “Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz“). The possibility to graduate as a PhD is given.
• Development of theoretical analysis of quantum optical systems with high-order OAM based on the non-linear SU (1,1) interferometer
• Regular teaching responsibility: 3 hours per week Your Profile:
• Master degree in physics or in a relevant related subject
• Solid background in quantum optics, quantum mechanics and ex-
perience in computational algorithms
Applications from women are particularly welcome and, in case of equal qualifications and experience, will receive preferential treatment according to state law (LGG). Qualified disabled people (in the sense of the German social law SGB IX) are also encouraged to apply.
