The Centre for Quantum Software and Information is recruiting for up to two Postdoctoral Research Associates or Postdoctoral Research Fellows to be involved in a new program analysing the utility of quantum computing for specific problem domains and developing tools to allow for estimating the size of an error corrected quantum computer to implement useful, large-scale algorithms. The position will be based at the centrally located UTS Campus in Ultimo and will report directly to Professor Michael Bremner.
The Centre for Quantum Software and Information is dedicated to the development of the software and information processing infrastructure required for future quantum technologies. CQSI is embarking on a new program focused on application benchmarking for large-scale quantum computing systems, involving close work with multiple project partners including major corporations in the fields of aerospace, automotive and bioscience and the quantum start-up sector, including major quantum computing hardware and software companies.
About the role
Utilise your experience in:
• algorithm development for quantum simulation, optimisation and related fields.
• circuit compilation and resource estimation,
• error-correction and fault-tolerance,
• architecture design for large-scale quantum computation.
Utilise your knowledge of python, C, C++, Julia or related programming languages.
About you
• A PhD Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or a very closely related field.
• Demonstrated track record in the area of quantum algorithms, quantum error correction, architecture design and fault-tolerant quantum computing through high quality research publications (in top Journals/conferences in the related areas).
• Significant experience in attracting and managing research projects
A high level of competency in programming and developing software tools in quantum information science will be advantageous.
Base Salary Range: $94,151 to $130,639 pa (Level A. Step 3 - Level B)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 18 months.
