Postdoctoral position in experimental quantum mechanics with trapped ions
A postdoctoral position is available at the Faculty of Science at the Palacky University in Olomouc as a part of the Centre of Excellence EXPRO of Czech Science Foundation.
The experimental research position will focus on mechanical interactions with elementary quantum oscillators, single trapped and laser-cooled ions, both in the linear and nonlinear regime. The main tasks will correspond to the experimental realization of the generation of nonclassical states with quantum non-Gaussian states of mechanical atomic motion. The envisaged results will then be directly applied to quantum-enhanced sensing of atomic motion and experimental tests of quantum thermodynamics. The candidate is expected to show a strong motivation and commitment to research by substantial contribution to the realization of proposed experiments within an existing modern ion-trapping laboratory led by Dr. Lukas Slodicka and collaborate with our theory team. Prof. Dr. Radim Filip will be a mentor for this position.
Start: January 1, 2021 and later
Duration of the contract: 12-24 months (extension possible up to 5 years)
Requirements:
Ph.D. in Quantum Physics;
Specialization and track-record in experimental quantum optics; Ability to communicate and write in English.
We offer:
Gross monthly salary will correspond to 45,000 - 60,000 CZK depending on research experience, including health and social insurance + potential bonuses;
