Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the UIK Summer School:
🔬 Fundamental Science with Quantum Computers and Simulators
📅 September 14–17, 2026
📍 Miramar Palace, San Sebastián / Donostia, Basque Country
This advanced school will cover how programmable quantum devices (superconducting circuits, trapped ions, Rydberg-atom arrays, and ultracold atomic systems) open new avenues for addressing fundamental physics problems beyond the reach of classical computation. The program spans many-body physics, quantum error mitigation, variational algorithms, nonequilibrium dynamics, and quantum phase transitions, from both theoretical and experimental perspectives.
👥 Confirmed speakers include:
Antoine Browaeys (Institut d'Optique / CNRS)
Francesca Ferlaino (Univ. Innsbruck / IQOQI)
David Hayes (Quantinuum)
Antonio AcĂn (ICFO)
Andreas Wallraff (ETH ZĂĽrich)
Pedram Roushan (Google Quantum AI)
Kristan Temme (IBM Research)
Markus MĂĽller (RWTH Aachen / FZ JĂĽlich)
Hans Peter BĂĽchler (Univ. Stuttgart)
Luca Tagliacozzo (IFF-CSIC)
Michael Meth (UIBK)
🎓 Directed by:
Enrique Rico Ortega (UPV/EHU - Ikerbasque - BasQ - CERN)
Juan JosĂ© GarcĂa Ripoll (CSIC Madrid)
Daniel Barredo (CSIC Oviedo)
đź’¶ Registration fees (including materials, coffee breaks, lunches & conference dinner):
• PhD Student: €390 (until June 1) / €440 (until Sept 7)
