Recent developments in Quantum Computing raise the question on the applicability of this technology for science and industry. Universal quantum computers exhibit exponential speed-up over classical approaches for some problems. Although these machines are not within reach yet, there is rapid development in building so called "noisy intermediate scale quantum" computers. These machines are amenable for quantum heuristic algorithms with the potential of surpassing the performance of today's supercomputers for certain tasks. This workshops aims to bring together people from fundamental research and quantum computing practitioners in order to shine some light onto the applicability of near-term quantum computers and quantum annealers for solving problems from science and industry.
