We are pleased to announce the first focused School on Quantum Communications Networks (SQCN) to be held in the beautiful city of Padova, Italy, from 19 to 22 Sept 2018. SQCN is funded and organized by the European Innovative Training Network QCALL (Quantum Communications for All), funded by the H2020 Marie Sklodowska Curie Programme (project 675662). The school will feature talks by leading scientists and representatives from industry in the field. It also provides a unique opportunity for discussion and to share ideas.
The school's programme is aimed primarily at PhD students with some knowledge of quantum information science, and its basic applications, e.g. QKD and quantum teleportation, who want to deepen their understanding in related fields to quantum communications networks. The school covers challenges of implementing trusted-node quantum networks, all the way through to satellite-based quantum communications and quantum repeater technologies. There will also be lectures on relevant enabling devices such as quantum memories and quantum random number generators. The school will conclude with sessions with industrial focus and an excursion.
A number of positions are available for external participants. Interested parties are invited to apply via the following web page. The application deadline is Sunday, 1 July 2018. Successful candidates will be informed shortly afterward and will be instructed to register and pay for the fees.
Please feel free to distribute this information to any colleague who might be interested. For enquiries, please contact sqcn@qcall-itn.eu.
