- Position type: Full time, fixed term
- Salary £43,093 – £50,834 plus benefits

• Duties and responsibilities
The main tasks of the post holders will be
- to develop algorithms for an optimum use of the existing hardware of quantum processors
- to work on new algorithms to demonstrate useful quantum advantages on near-term hardware
- to design solid-state qubit hardware
* The duties will include identifying concrete problems and developing new algorithms for quantum simulations and implementation schemes using solid-state qubits. In this interdisciplinary project, the post holders will work as part of a dedicated team of two Research Associates and four PhD students led by Professor Myungshik Kim, Professor Peter Haynes and Professor Johannes Knolle.

• Essential requirements
Research Associate: Hold a PhD (or equivalent) in one of the following areas:
- Quantum Information and Quantum Algorithms
- Theory of solid-state qubit hardware (transmons/spin qubits)
- Simulation of Quantum Materials using quantum computational processors

Evidence of outstanding promise and originality in research, demonstrated by a good publication record in at least one of the above areas.
- Proven research experience with programming and numerical methods for quantum many-body systems, quantum chemistry, quantum optics and/or quantum information
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Existing knowledge of qubit hardware, Quantum Simulations and/or Quantum Information is highly beneficial.
