We seek to appoint an exceptional early career researcher with a background in photonics to conduct research in precision frequency lasers.

The role

The successful candidate will conduct experimental research into novel lasers to address challenges in quantum and space sensing systems. This centrally-funded university position provides an opportunity to accelerate a research career in photonics with potential cross-over into other disciplines such as quantum hardware, metrology and sensing, and space adaptive optics. The role is located in the Diamond Laser Group, which is part of the Centre for Quantum Engineering. The successful candidate will benefit from an outstanding academic environment that includes a large team of experts in photonics and quantum science, well-resourced photonics laboratories and an excellent international reputation in the field.

3-year Level A Postdoc, that aims to:

  • Kickstart an academic career for an outstanding early-career scientist in experimental photonics and applications;
  • Demonstrate novel pathways to high power and high coherence lasers;
  • Develop numerical model(s) that can be used to predict performance and optimize design;
  • Drive the development of devices towards the needs of applications in quantum sensing and space adaptive optics.

Salary Package: From Level A Step 6 (PhD required) AUD106,089 to AUD113,697 p.a., plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading.
