Dear Colleagues,
The Laboratory for Ultracold Quantum Matter & Light at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC), University of Waterloo invites applicants for two postdoctoral positions in quantum optics and AMO physics, beginning as early as Fall 2014. The applicant will work at the interface between AMO physics, condensed-matter physics, and quantum information science, investigating emergent quantum behaviors with strongly interacting Rydberg quantum gases and with single atoms trapped in nanoscopic optical devices. Members have the opportunity to interact with other research groups at the University, such as the nearby Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics.
Primary experiments:
• Ultracold Rydberg polaritons
• Trapped atoms in photonic crystals
Theoretical projects:
• Cold atom physics, Rydberg atoms
• Computational nanophotonics
Postdoctoral scholar program:

Two postdoctoral scholar positions are available for conducting cutting edge research on atomic physics, quantum many-body physics, and quantum information science. Important qualifications include Ph.D or equivalent degree in physics or relevant field, and excellence of research in quantum optics, cold atom physics, nanophotonics, or quantum information science. The search is primarily focused on candidates with experimental background, although theorists will also be considered.
The deadline for the application is November 1, 2014. The call will remain open until a suitable candidate is identified.
Best regards,
Prof. Kyung Soo Choi
