Berkeley Lab’s Applied Math and Computational Research Division has an opening in the Quantum Information Science and Technology Group for a Post-doctoral Scholar.

The International Max Planck Research School for Chemistry and Physics of Quantum Materials is a joint PhD program between the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids in Dresden, Germany, Technische Universität Dresden and the University of St Andrews, Scotland. The research group of Prof. Bihui Zhu at the Homer L. Dodge Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Center for Quantum Research and Technology at University of Oklahoma in the United States is looking for postdoctoral researchers to join us. The successful candidate will conduct theoretical research focusing on many-body phenomena relevant to near-term quantum platforms. At neQxt, our theory team explores the principles that make scalable quantum computing possible. We study how fault tolerance can be realized under realistic conditions, designing circuits, developing simulation methods, and analyzing noise at the circuit level. A key part of our work is to understand trade-offs between different approaches and how they can be embedded into modular architectures. We aim to connect theoretical insights with practical feasibility, developing techniques that move fault tolerance closer to realization. By building tools, models, and architectures, we provide a bridge between abstract principles and the requirements of physical quantum processors.

At neQxt, our theory team explores the principles that make scalable quantum computing possible. We focus on logical-qubit systems: developing quantum error correcting codes, decoding methods, and logical gate constructions, and studying the mathematical structures that underlie them. Our work aims to deepen the understanding of how fragile quantum information can be preserved over long timescales and across large systems. By advancing the theoretical foundations of quantum fault tolerance, we contribute to both the science of quantum information and the long-term vision of reliable quantum computing.

The Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the University of Barcelona (ICCUB, https://icc.ub.edu/) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Position in Quantum Resources for Science and Technology, part of a Unit of Excellence Maria de Maeztu award (2025-2031). The physics focus is on the exploitation of quantum resources for science applications, including quantum simulations of many-body systems.
