Technische Universität Darmstadt invites applications for a
Full Professorship (W3)
Hybrid Quantum Systems
at the Department of Physics in the Institute of Condensed Matter Physics.
We are looking for an internationally highly qualified person with a proven track record of high international quality to establish a worldwide visible research field at TU Darmstadt. Possible research topics include, but are not restricted to, quantum spin systems, quantum sensors, 2D-layer systems, quantum dots, nanomechanical oscillators or circuit-QED systems. Possible applications are, for example, quantum computation, generating new quantum states of condensed matter with novel physical properties in a controlled way or sensing properties of liquid, soft, and amorphous matter. The candidate should have a strong experimental background in the field of hybrid quantum systems.
The successful appointee will be expected to lead a dynamic research effort in this area. This will involve hiring one further professor in this field within the near future. Therefore, we expect to establish interactions with the existing groups in the Institute of Condensed Matter Physics as well as a link-building to the activities to our groups in Modern Optics. Outside the Department of Physics, cooperation opportunities may arise, in particular, with groups in the Departments of Materials Science, Electrical Engineering and Chemistry.
Besides excellent research activities, the position holder has to be able and willing to teach the full program of experimental physics.
The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German "W-Besoldung" and subject to negotiations between the applicant and the university directorate. The regulations for employment are specified under §§ 61 and 62 HHG (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
The Technische Universität Darmstadt intends to increase the number of female faculty members and encourages female candidates to apply. In case of equal qualifications applicants with a degree of disability of at least 50 or equal will be given preference.
The Technische Universität Darmstadt is certified as a family-friendly university and offers a dual career program.
Applications must include a CV, a list of publications, relevant certificates, an overview of previous teaching responsibilities (including teaching evaluations) and a description of research activities. Please direct your application including the code number to the Dean of the Department of Physics, Prof. Dr. Thomas Walther, Technische Universität Darmstadt, Hochschulstraße 12, D-64289 Darmstadt, Germany, preferably in a single PDF file to dekanat@physik.tu-darmstadt.de.
No original documents should be submitted, as the documents will not be returned to the applicant. Please submit photocopies of any relevant documentation.
