The Theoretical Quantum Communication Group led by Prof. Zahra Raissi at the University of Münster invites applications for a fully funded PhD position (remuneration at 67% of the German pay scale TV-L E13, three years) within the newly funded Quantum Futur project Q-SCALAR (Quantum Secure Communication with Adaptive Layers and Ranks). The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).
Q-SCALAR is a five-year research project aimed at developing the next generation of quantum communication protocols by combining multipartite entanglement, graph states, quantum networks, quantum error correction, and quantum cryptography. The successful candidate will develop analytical and numerical methods for quantum information processing and investigate novel quantum error-correcting codes and communication protocols.
The project offers opportunities for close collaboration with leading national and international academic researchers as well as industrial partners working on the development of future quantum technologies. Depending on the research direction, the successful candidate may have opportunities to interact with:
- T-Labs (Deutsche Telekom, Germany)
- ID Quantique (Switzerland)
- QuiX Quantum (Netherlands)
- QC Design (Germany)
The planned research is also closely connected to collaborations with experimental groups in photonic quantum technologies, offering opportunities to contribute to research with direct experimental relevance. The successful candidate will have opportunities to publish in leading international journals and present their research at international conferences.
