The Max Planck School of Photonics (MPSP) is accepting applications for its PhD program, with start dates in 2027. MPSP is a Germany-wide graduate school connecting leading groups at universities, Max Planck Institutes and Fraunhofer Institutes. PhD candidates work in the group of an MPSP Fellow, have a co-supervisor at another MPSP location, and take part in joint schools and training events.
Several Fellows offer projects in quantum information, including quantum communication, photonic quantum computing, and quantum metrology. Both groups from Daniel Braun in Tübingen (theoretical quantum metrology and quantum imaging) and Otfried Gühne in Siegen (quantum information theory) are open for interested candidates.
Applicants should have an excellent Master’s degree in physics or a related field (or be close to completing one). Applications, including at least two referee invitations, must be submitted via the online portal by December 1, 2026: https://photonics.maxplanckschools.org/application
