We are looking for a postdoc that wants to be a part of a Swedish-Finnish collaboration funded by the Wallenberg Foundation. The projects is a collaboration between Sweden (Chalmers, Gothenburg) and Finland (University of Helsinky) where you have the opporunity to spend at least 51% of your time in Sweden each of the two years, and up to 49% of the time in Finland in either research visits or extended research periods (up to 6 months per year), depending on your wishes and the developments of the project.
Information about the research project
At the Swedish node, the project is carried out in the stimulating research environment of the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT), a 12-year, billion-SEK initiative started in 2018 with the purpose of advancing Swedish academia and industry to the forefront of quantum technology, and to build a Swedish quantum computer. The vision is to build an open and interactive Swedish quantum technology community – an environment where people meet and where creativity and knowledge exchange is stimulated.The WACQT team at Chalmers currently has about 80 members (faculty, permanent research staff, postdoctoral researchers, PhD students, and undergraduate students) and is expanding. WACQT is committed to promoting career development, diversity, and gender equality through networking and supporting activities.
Our department Microtechnology and Nanoscience (MC2) is host to the state-of-the-art MC2 Nanotechnology Laboratory cleanroom, the largest such facility in Northern Europe, and our measurement lab at QTL is well equipped with cryogenic and microwave electronic equipment. We are in a position to build and operate large-scale quantum processors!
At the Finnish node the research will be conducted at the University of Helsinki (UH) in the HelTech group. The long standing theoretical expertise in theory of open quantum systems, quantum probing and non-Markovian reservoir engineering will provide the applicant with the perfect scientific environment to stimulate new exciting ideas.
Major responsibilities
Your major responsibility as a postdoc is to assess the performance of bosonic error-correcting in non-Markovian environments. This will include both analytical and numerical work, and also communication with experimentalists who can inform us on relevant non-Markovian effects. You may also collaborate with PhD students working on bosonic codes at Chalmers. Another aspect involves collaboration with academia and possible dissemination to the large society of the results of this project, e.g. at science festivals.
The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must hold a doctoral degree awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline (according to the current agreement with the Swedish Agency for Government Employers) in Physics or neighbouring fields.
Required qualifications:
*Solid communication skills in written and spoken English
*Ability to program in programming languages such as Python or C
*A background in quantum mechanics.
Meritorious qualifications:
*Experience from working on quantum error-correction, open quantum systems, quantum optics, bosonic codes or continuous-variable quantum computing.

This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years.
