The Light-Matter Interactions Unit (https://groups.oist.jp/light) at OIST, headed by Prof Síle Nic Chormaic, invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar or staff scientist. The focus of the project will be on one of the research areas within the unit such as (i) nano-optics, (ii) plasmonic nanoparticle trapping, (iii) orbital angular momentum carrying light, (iv) cold alkali atoms for quantum technologies based on optical nanofibers. Only candidates with experience related to at least one of these areas should apply.

If interseted, you must hold a PhD in an experimentally related area and have some postdoctoral experience. Applicants for staff scientist post should have significant years of experience post PhD award. Strong analytical and programming skills (LabVIEW, MATLAB, COMSOL) are desired. You should have already demonstrated that you can publish in high-impact journals in optics, physics or nanotechnology. You should be a good team player and be willing to assume day-to-day responsibilities in the laboratory including assisting with graduate student supervision. Our team is very international and the day-to-day language is English. You will receive a competitive salary and benefits (including a relocation and housing allowance).
