The high optical nonlinearity of AlGaAs allows us to create entangled photon pairs in waveguides integrated with the pump laser on the same chip for a miniaturized room-temperature source of entangled photon pairs. Within the EU FET Flagship project UNIQORN these sources will be optimized and integrated into other waveguide circuits to realize low-cost quantum communication systems.
To lead the Innsbruck team in the UNIQORN consortium, the Photonics group of the Department for Experimental Physics at the University of Innsbruck is inviting applications for a post-doc position. Candidates should have a background in integrated, nonlinear, or quantum optics. Ideally, candidates have knowledge and experience in the following fields of expertise: electromagnetic simulation methods, waveguide optics, quantum optical measurement techniques, and semiconductor nanofabrication.
The preferred starting date is between October and December 2018 and the position is for up to three years in a fixed-term employment contract level B1/3 with a minimum gross annual salary of € 51.955,40. In addition, the university offers several attractive benefits. The University of Innsbruck is committed to raising the quota of female employees and therefore particularly welcomes applications from qualified women.
Please send your application (one pdf-file consisting of a cover letter, your CV with contact information for three references, and a publication list) to photonics@uibk.ac.at
The University of Innsbruck was founded in 1669 and is the biggest and most important research and education institution in western Austria, today comprised of almost 27.000 students and more than 4.000 staff and faculty members.
