Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic, announces a postdoctoral position in the field of quantum metrology and sensing. The main objective of the project is to develop new techniques or use the existing state-of-the-art methods in quantum metrology to some physical applications, such as quantum communication, quantum optomechanics, or interferometry with active elements. Applicants are welcome with a background in estimation theory or metrology/sensing or in any of the mentioned fields of application.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in physics or a relevant field of study, ideally have a strong background in theoretical quantum physics and be capable of efficiently communicating in English. The appointed contract period is up to the end of 2021 (with a possibility of extention), with a monthly salary of 40,000-50,000 CZK before tax (that is, up to ca. 2,000 EUR/month, with considerably lower living costs than in Western Europe). The start date of the contract can be agreed upon, the autumn of 2019 is preferable.
The work will be done in collaboration with the group of Prof. Radim Filip (http://muj.optol.cz/filip/colaborations.html), which offers great conditions for conducting research in terms of the surrounding international group of talented researchers, the locally available infrastructure, as well as international collaborations. Furthermore, the beautiful city of Olomouc (http://bit.do/eU2vn) is a great place to live, for lovers of sports, nature, food and history alike.
Applicants should provide:
- a structured CV, including a list of publications;
- the names and contacts (e-mail) of two senior researchers who may provide references for the candidate;
- a statement about their research experience, specifying research interests.
Applications or inquiries are to be emailed to Dr. László Ruppert (ruppert at optics.upol.cz) and Prof. Radim Filip (filip at optics.upol.cz).
