Postdoctoral position in Theoretical Quantum Mechanics with Trapped Ions

Faculty of Science, Palacky University in Olomouc is looking for a suitable candidate for a post-doc position:

Start of job: January 1, 2021 and later

Duration of the contract: 12-24 months (extension possible up to 5 years)

Job description:

The postdoc will theoretically analyze quantum non-Gaussian mechanical states of laser-cooled trapped ions, their applications in quantum sensing and thermodynamics, and propose new experiments for our laboratory. The target is the generation, manipulation and detection of macroscopic quantum non-Gaussian states, development of evaluation criteria and analysis of the performance in the applications. The new EXPRO project of Czech Science Foundation will support this activity for five years. The postdoc will intensively collaborate with our trapped-ion laboratory (Dr. Lukas Slodicka). Prof. Dr. Radim Filip will lead the project work and will be a mentor for this position.

Requirements:

Ph.D. in Quantum Physics;
Specialization and track-record in quantum optics, quantum information, light-matter interaction, cold trapped ions, atomic physics;
Ability to communicate and write in English.
