Postdoctoral positions in Quantum Algorithms, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia

Job type:

Application deadline:

Saturday, January 9, 2016

Two fellowships are offered in research into quantum algorithms for simulation of quantum systems, including quantum chemistry and quantum field theory. The positions are for 24 months, and are available now.

The Fellows will be expected to conduct independent research and work with researchers at Macquarie University under the supervision of Dr Dominic Berry and A/Prof Gavin Brennen. One position will involve developing new quantum algorithms for simulating Hamiltonian evolution with applications to quantum chemistry and partial differential equations. The other position will involve designing quantum algorithms for quantum field theory.

Requirements
* Postgraduate qualifications (PhD level or equivalent) in physics, computer science, or a relevant discipline.
* Proven record of research in the theory of quantum algorithms or quantum information, as demonstrated by international reputation, research publications and presentations, external research grants, or other relevant indicators.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct research collaboratively and independently.
* High-level communication, inter-personal, and communication skills.
