The Department of Physics at Virginia Tech invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join Professor Vito Scarola’s research group in the field of quantum information theory, with a focus on measurement-based quantum computing (MBQC). This position is part of a research program aimed at developing new quantum algorithms and protocols. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and optimization of MBQC protocols using entangled resource states, such as graph states, with applications to quantum simulation of electronic structure problems.
Preferred Qualifications
• A Ph.D. in Physics, Quantum Information Science, or a related field.
• Strong background in quantum information theory, particularly the stabilizer formalism and MBQC.
• Familiarity with quantum simulation techniques, including Jordan-Wigner transformations and Trotterized time evolution.
• Experience with computational methods and numerical modeling
