Job type:

Application deadline:

Sunday, March 22, 2020

The Cluster of Excellence Matter and Light for Quantum Computing (ML4Q) is seeking applications for a Professorship in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Cologne.

ML4Q is a cooperation of the universities of Cologne, Aachen, Bonn and the Research Center Jülich. The research cluster is funded by the German Excellence Strategy. The candidate is expected to contribute actively to ML4Q and to extend strategically the research spectrum of experimental condensed matter physics at the University of Cologne.

Research experience in mesoscopic quantum devices such as superconducting or quantumdot qubits, in their coupling to photons, and/or on devices based on topological matter is expected. Possible future research areas include the realization of Majorana qubits and qubit operations. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the main research lines of ML4Q. He or she will actively participate in the teaching of experimental condensed matter physics and quantum technologies. During the current funding period of ML4Q the teaching load is reduced.
