The Center for Theoretical Physics of Complex Systems (PCS) of the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) is organizing an international virtual workshop focused on open quantum systems and thermodynamics.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative student for a fully-funded PhD position in Dublin, on the quantum thermodynamics of flows of light in the strong-coupling regime. The successful candidate will create theories and simulations of the thermodynamic properties of polariton gases, and use them to develop novel concepts for thermodynamic machines that use light as the working medium.

Open post-doc position from February 2019 at the theory division of the Max-Planck Institute for the Science of Light (MPL) in Erlangen, Germany.

The newly established junior research group on “Quantum Mechanics and Thermodynamics at the Nanoscale” is looking for motivated theoretical physicists to join. The group will be led by Stefan Nimmrichter and is part of the MPL theory division.

Starting from February 2019, we offer a post-doc position at the MPL (typically 2 years, extension possible; salary level E13).

Submission deadline:

We are happy to announce the 3rd international conference for Young Quantum Information Scientists (YQIS) which will happen in Erlangen (Germany) from 3rd to 6th October 2017. The conference aims for providing a possibility for young researchers to present their cutting-edge research on the stage, to discuss extensively with other young researchers and to build strong ties to the quantum information community.
