The [http://quicc.net Summer School on Quantum Information, Computing and Control, QuICC], will be held in Aberystwyth, Wales, on August 27 - September 1, 2012.
Robert Spekkens: Foundations of quantum mechanics
Vlatko Vedral: Entanglement and its relationship to thermodynamics
Martin Plenio: Quantum biology and the physics of NV centres in diamond
Peter Knight: Overview of quantum optics and quantum information
Ifan Hughes: Experiments with cold atoms and molecules
David Lucas: Ion trap implementations of quantum information theory
Jeremy O'Brien: Optical implementations of quantum information theory
The Summer School is sponsored by Imperial College London's Centre for Doctoral Training on Controlled Quantum Dynamics with funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, and its organizing committee consists primarily of students from its second and third cohorts, as well as Daniel Burgarth as a local organizer.
We aim to bring together the leading scientists in the fields of quantum information and its experimental realizations with promising graduate and advanced undergraduate students starting their careers in this field to further their understanding of it as to well as enable crucial connections and scientific networks to develop. Funding will be available for students from universities in the United Kingdom, and we may be able to fund some overseas students (details to be announced shortly).
