PhD

Scientific IT Specialist

Scope of Position:

The Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics (PI) seeks a creative individual with experience in both scientific research and information technology (IT) to fill a new hybrid research / IT position within the Institute. The successful applicant will bring his / her own vision to the position and help define it. A key aspect of the position is to assist PI’s scientific staff in making effective use of IT resources. We expect this position’s activities to evolve over time as needs and opportunities arise.

The University of Warsaw, Faculty of Physics, seeks to fill nine research positions supported by the project Photonic implementations of quantum-enhanced technologies starting on 1 January 2010. The project, funded under the TEAM programme operated by the Foundation for Polish Science, will focus on controlling quantum phenomena in photonic systems to enable new modes of information processing and communication.

A PhD studentship in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics/Semiconductor Optics is available in the School of Physics at Trinity College Dublin, in the area of many-body phenomena in coupled light-matter systems (such as quantum dots and semiconductor microcavities). The project will explore many-particle effects in decoherence, using radiatively coupled quantum dots as a model system.
