There is an opportunity for a short (approximately 8 month) theory postdoc position at the University of Exeter (Exeter, United Kingdom). The start date should be from November 2024 (with January 2025 being the latest start date) and the end date is August 2025.

Balint Koczor’s Quantum Information Theory group in the Mathematical Institute of the University of Oxford is looking for a highly motivated and exceptionally talented quantum theorist to lead new projects in the broad context of achieving practical quantum advantage using early quantum computers (noisy and early fault tolerant). The length of the position is fixed term funded by a research grant from the by EPSRC project SEEQA until 31 March 2025 and UKRI FLF Project Theory to Enable Practical Quantum Advantage from 1 April 2025 – 30 June 2027.

Role Description

We will have openings for a PhD and Postdoc positions at the Quantum Algorithmics group at the University of Augsburg. The anticipated starting date is spring 2025.

We are looking for candidates who:

- Enjoy working creatively with numerical methods and heuristic exploration
- Motivation to work on scientific code and software development
- Strong interest in physical concepts and their utilization
- Master's degree/PhD in: Computer Science Physics, Chemistry, or Math (including interdisciplinary programs)
