The University of KwaZulu-Natal is one of the top three Universities in South Africa and in the top 500 Universities globally. The School conducts research in space plasma physics, quantum information processing and communication, magnetic properties of materials, and applied physics (solar-thermal energy, photonics and fluid dynamics). The School seeks an experimental physicist at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level who will provide leadership in one of its research areas, or in a closely-related field.

Applications are invited for a Chair in Theoretical Quantum Optics / Quantum Information Science. The post is available from 1st January 2010 and is based in the Quantum Optics and Laser Science (QOLS) Group of the Department of Physics.

Professor (W2) in Theoretical Physics

The successful candidate is expected to do research in quantum information theory, the dynamics of large complex quantum systems, or the space-time aspects of quantum dynamics.

The position will be based at the Institute for Theoretical Physics, and is associated with the research cluster QUEST (Centre for Quantum Engineering and Space-Time Research).
Close collaboration with QUEST and with the quantum information group of R. F. Werner is expected.

Screening will begin on September 15th.

The National Quantum Information Centre of Gdansk (NQuantIC), together with the University of Gdansk is seeking an experimentalist interested in a position (professor or senior researcher) in experimental quantum optics and/or quantum information technology.

FACULTY OF MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICAL SCIENCES
SCHOOL OF PHYSICS AND ASTRONOMY
CHAIR IN QUANTUM INFORMATION SCIENCE

The Mathematics Department of Saint Anselm College invites applications for two tenure-track appointments, to begin fall 2008. We are looking for excellence in teaching and scholarship. Saint Anselm College is an undergraduate, liberal arts college. The teaching load is 3/3, and the class sizes are small. There is little teaching below the rigorous calculus level (at most, one course a semester).

The Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Calgary invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Theoretical Quantum Optics at the assistant or associate professor level to start January 2009. All applicants must have a PhD in Physics or equivalent, postdoctoral experience in theoretical quantum optics, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and a strong record of research achievements in quantum optics, especially in the nexus between quantum optics and quantum information science.
