A fully funded PhD position is available to work in the newly founded Thermodynamics and energetics of quantum systems group (QuSys) in the School of Physics at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland lead by Prof. John Goold. The successful candidate must hold a degree in physics, theoretical physics or applied mathematics. The research interests of the group are available on the group website:

The project will focus on engineering the transport properties of non equilibrium steady states of complex many-body quantum systems with a view to applications in autonomous thermal machines. The ideal candidate will have an interest in quantum many-body physics, thermodynamics and/or quantum information and an interest in numerical simulation. We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative student who enjoys challenges and new endeavours.
The position is fully funded for a period of 4 years (stipend + fees) and is available also to non-Eu students as part of the starting grant (ODYSSEY) from the European Research Council. If successful, the candidate will be fully enrolled in the graduate program at Trinity College Dublin. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
