Winter School on Rydberg Physics and Quantum Information
Topics
Quantum Information tries to store, process and communicate information in quantum states, and explores the tasks which can be achieved efficiently using quantum mechanical rather than classical systems. For its implementation any physical platform has to fulfill complementary aspects of near perfect isolation along with a high degree of controllability.
Post Doc position in theoretical quantum optics
A Post Doc. position in theoretical quantum optics is available at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark. The position is for research into one of the following two areas:
Q+ Hangout: Caslav Brukner
This is a rerun of Caslav Brukner's Q+ hangout that originally took place in July. Note the earlier than usual starting time.
Date: Tuesday 18th September
Time: 12noon British Summer Time
Speaker: Caslav Brukner (University of Vienna)
Title: Quantum correlations with indefinite causal order
Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical Quantum Control and Continuous Measurement, University of Southern California
A postdoctoral position is available in quantum information science at the University of Southern California in the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical Engineering. This position is for a research project involving the theory of weak and continuous measurement, quantum trajectories, and closed-loop quantum control, under the supervision of Prof. Todd Brun. The successful applicant should have a Ph.D.
MagiQ unveils PXI RF products as Cambridge Instruments
I am happy to announce a new division of MagiQ Technologies called Cambridge Instruments. It is gratifying to see our work on quantum computing result in commercial products. MagiQ Technologies (www.magiqtech.com) is a quantum commercialization company founded in 1999. MagiQ developed and sold the world's first commercial quantum cryptography system in 2002, and remains dedicated to developing quantum technologies for the real world.

Dissipative Quantum Computing and State Engineering Workshop
Quantum Physics of Information Workshop
Quantum Square - Student conference on mathematical and theoretical aspects of quantum mechanics
A postgraduate student conference on Mathematical Techniques for Quantum Physics will take place in Nottingham (U.K.) from 7 - 9 November 2012.
The conference will emphasise quantum information, quantum gravity and quantum disordered systems. Respectively, the invited speakers from each area are:
*Nilanjana Datta (Cambridge),
*Samuel Braunstein (York), and
*Karoline Wiesner (Bristol).
5th Winter School on Practical Quantum Communications
This program will deal with quantum cryptography, quantum computing and quantum repeaters. The goal of this event is to introduce this exciting topic in a relaxed and stimulating atmosphere to a general audience of physicists and computer scientists with little or no background in practical quantum communications. Special emphasis will be placed on practical aspects of quantum communications, such as the implementation of Quantum Key distribution systems and quantum repeaters, as well as concrete steps towards a quantum computer.
