The groups of Cryptology and Quantum Information (Alexander May and Michael Walter) at Ruhr University Bochum are looking for an excellent candidate for a fully funded Ph.D. position as part of Quantum-Safe Internet (QSI), a Marie Curie Innovative Training Network (MSCA-ITN). The QSI network involves top-ranking partner universities from France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Spain, the UK, and Switzerland, as well as industrial partners.

As a PhD candidate in Photonic Quantum Computing (m/w/d) at Q.ANT, you will perform studies on universal approaches for photonic quantum computing. You will focus on investigating new ways to prepare high-fidelity resource states required for universal quantum computing. Within the framework of a public research project, you will be jointly supervised in collaboration with a leading-edge professor at a renowned research university (Technical University of Denmark). This will allow you to build up experience in both the university- and industry-based quantum technology research.

We are inviting applicants for a PhD and for a postdoctoral position in quantum information theory.

The successful candidates will work on current topics in quantum computing, specifically on the design of quantum algorithms and on the certification of quantum computers. These positions will be integrated into the successful and growing landscape of quantum technology projects in the region, including the Cluster of Excellence Matter and Light for Quantum Computing, and the quantum computer demonstrator project QSolid.

As part of our team, you will take responsibility for researching and developing algorithms for quantum computing in chemical-pharmaceutical applications. You will be embedded in a team that is currently being built up, with the opportunity to help shape and contribute to it. The department "Interactive Engineering Technologies" conducts research and development in the area of geometric and physical modeling as well as in the area of simulation and optimization, especially using Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) as co-processors to accelerate computations. This expertise in heterogeneous computing forms the basis for the identification of suitable problems as well as the portable and reusable implementation of quantum algorithms, where quantum computing requires fundamentally different approaches and ways of thinking. These developments contribute to the Center for Applied Quantum Computing (ZAQC), which is currently being established and in which you can be involved from the beginning. The results will serve customers from different industries, e.g., chemistry, pharmaceuticals, transportation, etc.

We seek an Ecosystem Builder to join the QEP Office to support activities across the programme, including identifying and developing opportunities for collaboration between academic researchers and industry partners, from sourcing and qualifying leads to managing partnerships. The successful candidate will be part of a small, collaborative team working in a dynamic area of deep tech. The team coordinates with research scientists, startups, government agencies and multinational companies.

The main task of the post-doc will be to analyze spontaneous symmetry breaking phenomena in periodically driven systems and their applications to time-tronics. It involves analytical calculations and large scale numerical simulations. Post-doc is supposed to prepare and run computer programs and collaborate closely with PhD students and master students, contribute in writing scientific publications and present results in scientific conferences and workshops.

An exciting PhD scholarship opportunity is available at the University of of Queensland with Professor Tim Ralph investigating a new space-borne platform capable of quantum communications with a terrestrial ground station.

Applications are invited for a 2-3 year postdoctoral position in Theoretical Quantum Information Science at Duke University.
