Surrey is funding 25 new PhD positions with full scholarships. Five scholarships will be awarded for start in Oct 2015 or Jan 2016, and applicants must choose from 11 possible projects.

The ATI is offering 5 of the 11 possible projects:

The Light-Matter Interactions Unit (https://groups.oist.jp/light) in OIST, headed by Prof Síle Nic Chormaic, invites applications for a research technician in the unit. The candidate will provide technical support across all experimental areas in the group. Candidates with experience in electronics, optical nanofiber fabrication, interfacing, optics, or fibre-based imaging are preferred. The successful candidate must hold at least an MSc in an experimentally related area and have a couple of years of relevant experience.

The Light-Matter Interactions Unit (https://groups.oist.jp/light) in OIST, headed by Prof Síle Nic Chormaic, invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar or staff scientist position in the unit. The focus will be on one of the experimental areas within the group such as (i) WGM resonators for nonlinear optics or optomechanics, (ii) complex beam profiles, optical trapping, and fibre-based imaging, or (iii) cold atoms and nanofibres for quantum networks.

There is a vacancy for a postdoctoral researcher on “Experimental Quantum Information with Trapped Strontium Rydberg Ions” at Stockholm University. We are searching for a talented and motivated postdoctoral researcher interested in experimental quantum optics and quantum information with trapped ions. The research will focus on the investigation of trapped strontium Rydberg ions, which is a novel approach for quantum information processing. It joins the high level of quantum control of trapped ions and the strong dipolar interaction between Rydberg atoms.

[Postdoctoral research fellowship and PhD positions]

Two postdoctoral positions and PhD positions are available from Oct. 1 2015 in the group of Quantum Information Theory led by Joonwoo Bae (Hanyang University-ERICA) and Won-Young Hwang (Chonnam National University), recently established consortium in Korea. The successful candidates will conduct an independent research and interact with the local group, in topics of fundamental aspects of quantum information theory toward cryptographic applications.
