The Advanced Technology Institute (ATI) at the University of Surrey is looking to employ a full time Post Doctoral Researcher for a fixed term position of two years to participate in the major EPSRC ADDRFSS programme (Atomically Deterministic Doping and Readout For Semiconductor Solotronics) with a potential for extension (project ending is 31 January 2020).

The 2015 International Summer School on Quantum Information Computing & Control (QuICC) will be held between the 31st August and 4th September at Warwick University. This event is organised by students from the doctoral training centres at Imperial College London. It aims to bring together experimental and theoretical physicists studying quantum phenomena in a variety of systems. Over the course of five days, the invited speakers will give three lectures each on their chosen topics.

Subject description
In recent years, atomic gases cooled down to extremely low temperatures have emerged as a playground to explore quantum many-body physics in a highly controlled manner. This has led, on the one hand, to the possibility of systematically exploring known models of condensed matter in the lab, and on the other, that new models, with no counterparts in other fields, can be engineered. As an example of the second, cold atomic gases can be held inside optical cavities and coherently interact with the electromagnetic field confined by the resonator.
