PhD opportunities in Quantum Random Walks and Quantum Game Theory. Deadline is very soon! (March 12 2013). Please email immediately michael.mcgettrick@nuigalway.ie if you may be interested.

PhD must be applied for through the Irish Research Council: http://www.irchss.ie/scheme/irish-research-council-government-ireland-po...

Two 16 month theoretical postdoctoral positions in the topic of noisy quantum information processing are opening at the Department of Mathematics in Brunel University, west London, to start in summer 2013.

Applications are invited for postdoctoral positions in the group of Andris Ambainis at the Faculty of Computing, University of Latvia. Our research group is interested in the following research topics:
- quantum algorithms and complexity theory;
- quantum communication, quantum information theory and cryptography;
- connections between quantum computing and classical computer science;
- using ideas from quantum information to study physical systems (quantum Hamiltonian complexity).

We are looking for a motivated PhD student who is interested to work at the interface between the foundations of quantum mechanics and particle physics. The project aims at the investigation of possible Bell inequality violations in systems of neutral mesons and the modeling of the relevant decay processes with methods from quantum optics.

The purpose of the meeting is to gather experts and young researchers working in the field of cold atoms at the interface with solid state physics in order to explore the state of the art and discuss the most fruitful perspectives.

There is no registration fee to attend the meeting but interested participants are required to notify the organiser by sending an e-mail to: samanta.piano@nottingham.ac.uk.
