PhD and Postdoctoral positions will open in Spring 2019 on different projects related to molecular cavity optomechanics, ultrafast quantum state manipulation in THz-frequency oscillators, and THz to visible wavelength conversion.
Details of the openings can be found at: https://lqno.epfl.ch/openings/
The Laboratory of Quantum Nano-Optics (http://lqno.epfl.ch) led by Prof. Christophe Galland is located at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), ranked among the top universities in the world. It offers an intellectually stimulating environment and outstanding work conditions on the shore of Lake Geneva. Our laboratory explores quantum effects and vibrational dynamics in individual nano-systems.
The candidates should have a background in one or more of the following areas:
• Confocal microscopy and spectroscopy on individual nano-systems
• Plasmonics and nano-optics
• Quantum Optics
• Cavity Optomechanics
• Ultrafast Spectroscopy
• THz Spectroscopy
Candidates should have excellent academic records, holding a Master in Physics, Physical Chemistry, Photonics, or related area, and should be passionate about fundamental research. Fluency in written and spoken English is expected. Acute physical understanding of quantum optics, plasmonics and light-matter interaction in general, is highly desired.
EPFL is an equal opportunity employer committed to increasing the diversity of its students and employees.
Female students and researchers are strongly encouraged to apply.
Full application should include in a single PDF file:
• A detailed CV
• A cover letter explaining your motivations and your match with the specific project
• A copy of grades and diploma (Master and Doctorate)
• At least one recommendation letter from a research supervisor
