PhD position in Experimental Quantum Optics and Quantum Information with Cold Atoms

Job type:

Application deadline:

Tuesday, June 28, 2022

Research group:

The Quantum Networks team at Laboratoire Kastler Brossel is looking for a talented and highly motivated PhD student to work on waveguide-QED with cold atoms.

The position is to join our state-of-the-art experiment where cold atoms are interfaced with the evanescent field of a nanofiber. The research will focus on implementing quantum information processing protocols, from linear operations such as quantum memories to optical nonlinearities with increased atom-light coupling. We are in particular interested in harnessing collective atomic phenomena in the Bragg configuration.

The team is led by Prof. Julien Laurat and Assoc. Prof. Alban Urvoy at Sorbonne Université, and hosted in the stimulating and world-renowned environment of LKB. This project is part of the French Quantum Initiative, and of the DAALI European consortium under the FET-Open program (daali-project.eu).

Interested applicants should send an e-mail to Julien Laurat (julien.laurat@sorbonne-universite.fr) and Alban Urvoy (alban.urvoy@sorbonne-universite.fr), with a CV, a cover letter and a list of 2-3 references.

The call will remain open until suitable candidates are identified. The start date is flexible.
