PhD position in Paris: Many-body tensor network methods for open quantum systems & coherent bio-organic devices

Job type:

Application deadline:

Wednesday, April 25, 2018

Candidates are sought for a PhD position in Theoretical Physics at l'Institut de Nanosciences de Paris (Sorbonne université) to be supervised by Dr Alex Chin. The project involves the simulation and theory of open quantum systems, with a focus on using new Tensor Network methods as a way to access the non-perturbative, real-time physics of excitons interacting with molecular vibrations in organic semiconductors and supramolecular nanostructures (see pdf at URL above). The project has strong connections to ongoing experimental work, and is part of a broader research line that aims to explore the biologically inspired idea of exploiting quantum effects in nano-engineered energy harvesting materials.

Candidates with a strong interest and background in condensed matter theory, quantum information and/or computational methods are particularly encouraged to apply, and may do so by emailing their cv to alex.chin@insp.jussieu.fr before 25/04/18.
