A fully funded (tuition and stipend) Ph.D. position is available to work with Matthew Leifer in the Computational and Data Sciences program at Chapman University. Chapman University is home to the Institute for Quantum Studies, which is one of the leading centers for research in the foundations of quantum theory.

The funding is not tied to any specific project, but dissertation research should be relevant to Computational and Data Sciences and will most likely focus on an area at the intersection of quantum theory and machine learning. Example topics include.

- Quantum Machine Learning
- Simulation of Quantum Systems on Classical Computers
- Machine Learning applied to the Foundations of Quantum Theory (Bayesian network approaches to nonlocality, quantum causal networks, etc.)

The student is expected to complete the masters program in Computational and Data Sciences at Chapman, but existing masters students may be able to transfer some of their credit.

The deadline for applications is 1st May, and applications can be submitted here, but interested candidates should contact Matt Leifer (leifer@chapman.edu) in the first instance.
