I am looking for motivated scientists to join my group at the University of Augsburg, Germany.
You will work on the project: Universal quantum computer with Kitaev transmon qubits.
The Kitaev transmon qubit is a hybrid semiconductor-superconductor qubit fabricated by embedding an array of quantum dots with superconducting coupling (forming a Kitaev chain) in a transmon architecture. You will work on designing and optimizing new qubit gate schemes for control and manipulation of these qubits.
Requirements:
- Completed master studies in physics or related field.
- Solid knowledge of quantum mechanics, including solid-state physics, second quantization, and density matrix formalism.
- Numerical programming practice (python, Matlab or similar) and basic use of mathematical computer tools (Wolfram Mathematica or similar).
- Practical knowledge of English.
- Preferably some knowledge of topological matter, quantum devices, and/or quantum algorithms.
The position is for a fixed term of 4 years, with starting date October 1st 2023.
Pay in line with 75% of pay group 13 of the Collective Agreement (TV-L).

In the first place, I would like to express my deepest happiness to apply for this PhD position program entitled as “Theory of Quantum Devices” at one of the best livestock university in in the world. For me, this program is a once in a lifetime opportunity to play my professional role. As a physicist I have to play my role in controlling one of the most Quantum physics in science technologies. I am a young, open minded, optimistic “a ready to learn” graduate of University of Gondar, Ethiopia, with a Degree of physics as well as a holder of Master of science in Physics(Quantum optics) graduate at Hawassa University completed. Currently I am working in Debark University as a lecturer having with Five years of teaching experience from which I learnt lots of things that shaped my general personality as well as my academic career. In addition i am working as a director for Continuing Education in debark university. In this office, I also got the opportunity to work with very honoured and privileged expertise especially in the area of research activities such as; research proposal writing, project execution, manuscript writing or preparation and about research ethics and misconduct. With my background knowledge, in wide ranges of physics disciplines, I strongly believe that a range of things are expected from me as a professional to improve the overall contribution of my profession in my home country. I strongly feel that in this fellowship program, I will be enriched with an all-inclusive knowledge, more specifically in the pork industry which is very infant in African countries. In addition, I will get a golden opportunity to interact with other professionals from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds coming from different part of our continent.
