The Quantum Computing Lab in the Centre for Quantum Computation and Intelligent Systems at the University of Technology, Sydney invites applications for PhD positions. We currently have a range of scholarships available for Semester 1 2015 (commencing in the first few months of 2015).

The QC lab works on a wide range of topics including, quantum Shannon theory, computational complexity, many-body physics, quantum error-correction, quantum simulation, quantum cryptography and quantum computing architectures. We are particularly interested in mathematically rigorous and interdisciplinary approaches to these topics.

The Quantum Computing Laboratory is situated in the School of Software in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, as such the PhD positions would be in Computer Science. However, we welcome applications from any motivated students with a strong background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering. We are particularly looking for students who are enthusiastic, have some level of mathematical maturity, and a willingness to work in collaborations that cross disciplines.

Interested students should email their CV by the 10th of October to:

Associate Professor Michael Bremner (michael.bremner "at" uts.edu.au), or
Associate Professor Min-Hsiu Hseih (min-hsiu.hsei "at" uts.edu.au)
