Post-doctoral fellowships at the Institute for Quantum Computing

Post-Doctoral fellowships at the Institute for Quantum Computing

The Institute for Quantum Computing is inviting applications for postdoctoral positions in all aspects of quantum information processing, bridging areas from fundamental theory to physical implementations.

Quantum information science aims to develop transformational technologies that harness quantum mechanics. The Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) is a world-leading institute for research in quantum information at the University of Waterloo. IQC has 18 faculty members whose research programs span the areas of Applied Mathematics, Chemistry, Combinatorics & Optimization, Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Physics & Astronomy. IQC members also have the opportunity to interact with other research groups at the university, such as the Centre for Applied Cryptographic Research, and with scientists at the nearby Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. IQC has significantly expanded its infrastructure to support experimental research, with a new state-of-the-art nanofabrication and metrology centre presently under construction.

IQC seeks promising candidates to help advance our understanding of the foundations of quantum information, to develop new quantum applications and algorithms, and to implement these ideas in laboratory experiments and engineered systems. A Ph.D. and proven ability, or strong potential, for excellence in research is required. To learn more about IQC and for information on how to join as a postdoctoral fellow, please visit the Positions link at www.iqc.ca

The preferred deadline for receiving applications is November 15th, 2009, but late applications may be considered until positions are filled.
