Postdoc position in experimental quantum technologies

Applications are invited for a postdoc position based in the School of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Nottingham. The successful candidate will carry out experimental research and technological development of quantum sensors. The specific research focus is the demonstration of atom interferometric rotation sensing within the programme A-Phi – Atomic Photonic Integration, funded by DARPA. Preparation of scientific publications, assistance in the supervision of younger colleagues, and project reporting are also part of the responsibilities.

Candidates should have a PhD, or be near completion, in physics or a related discipline, and enjoy working in a team. Candidates should have excellent laboratory skills and a robust background in experimental atomic physics and/or quantum optics. Previous experience with matterwave interferometry is desirable.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract until 04 December 2020, limited by the project duration. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours).
