Join QuTech and be part of the quantum revolution!

Job description :
At QuTech we are looking for a Principal Investigator to join our team. The position is in experimental physics with a focus on the area of quantum optics and with an interest in quantum communication and quantum networking.

The candidate’s research program is expected to contribute to the general aim of the Quantum Internet Division (QID) within QuTech. In the Quantum Internet Division, a full quantum network stack, novel applications for the quantum internet, and the enabling technology for the realization of large-scale quantum networks and modular quantum computers for quantum computation, simulation and sensing are being developed.

Candidates interested in teaching can participate in teaching can explore opportunities to participate in teaching and developing of courses offered by the university both at the undergraduate and at the graduate level. This can happen in collaboration with the department of Quantum Nanoscience in the faculty of Applied Sciences.

The department of Quantum Nanoscience studies quantum phenomena in a wide variety of nanometer scale devices and materials, exploring new physics and novel applications of quantum effects. Areas include Quantum Matter, Quantum Sensing and Quantum Transduction.

QuTech together with the Departments of Bionanoscience and Quantum Nanoscience, constitute the Kavli Institute of Nanoscience at Delft (KIND) established by the US-based Kavli foundation. The successful candidate will be part of this vibrant research community and can expect a competitive start-up package to enable a quick start of their research program.

QuTech

QuTech is a mission-driven research institute run jointly by Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). Together, we work on a radically new technology with world-changing potential, developing scalable prototypes of a quantum computer and an intrinsically safe quantum internet.

We are creating the quantum future, and we believe that quantum technology will be a game changer in many social and economic sectors – including health, agriculture, climate and safety. To achieve our ambitious goals, we bring together scientists, engineers and industry in an inspiring environment, with plenty of space for ambition, entrepreneurship and innovation. QuTech’s research and engineering activities are conducted in three divisions: Quantum Computing, Quantum Internet and Qubit Research.

220 FTE and over 300 curious people work in our divisions and support teams, and we actively search and welcome many more new colleagues who share our vision and enthusiasm.
