The newly established Center for Quantum Technologies (QuTe) at Saarland University invites applications for a Research Group Leader in Applied Quantum Sciences.
QuTe brings together research in physics, mathematics, computer science, and quantum engineering and is currently establishing several new research groups as part of its ongoing development.
Research focus
The successful candidate will establish and lead an independent research group at QuTe and develop a research programme at the interface of quantum technologies and other disciplines.
Possible research areas include:
- quantum bioinformatics
- quantum chemistry
- quantum sensing
- quantum machine learning
The position offers opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration within QuTe and Saarland University, including the Center for Bioinformatics at Saarland Informatics Campus, as well as with Forschungszentrum Jülich.
Position
The Research Group Leader will have the opportunity to:
- develop an independent research programme
- build and lead an own research group with support from QuTe
- initiate interdisciplinary research collaborations
- acquire national and international third-party funding to further expand the research group
- contribute to the growing quantum technologies ecosystem at Saarland University
Profile
We are looking for candidates with an excellent scientific profile in applying quantum computing or quantum physics methods to other fields.
A doctorate (PhD or equivalent) in a natural science or related discipline, such as bioinformatics, chemistry, physics, computer science, or a similar field, is required.
